Indian cuisine is a huge cluster
of unique and tasty recipes. India is a huge country so staple foods and
regional favorites are very important. Although there is great difference
between the cuisine of the Northern and Southern part of the country but some
basic staples are common everywhere.
Basic Indian recipes
are enhanced with the help of spices and different cooking techniques. The prime
basic and staple food of India is rice. In fact, it is taken in accompaniment
with several other dishes. Pulao and biriyani are different varieties of rice
dishes that are most common. In Indian cuisine, the most common name used for
bread is roti. It is made from wheat and is very healthy and fibrous. It is
mostly eaten with a vegetable dish and lentil soup. ‘Naan’ is another variety
of bread that is baked in the tandoori oven. Several different style of parantha’s
or roti’s can be made by filling mashed vegetables along with Indian spices.
Potato is most common vegetable used in different ways in the Indian cuisine. This vegetable is
commonly popular among non-vegetarian and vegetarian eaters. Cottage cheese or
paneer is another prime ingredient of Indian cuisine. It is mostly popular among
vegetarians because of its high protein content. Paneer is used to make different
dishes like Matar Paneer, Alu Paneer, Paneer Sabzi and Kadai Paneer. Different Indian spices can be added to enhance
the taste of recipes.
